About Us

The Doug & Maria DeVos Foundation was established in 1992 as an avenue to provide support for the causes that are closest to Doug and Maria’s hearts: youth, family, and the community in the greater Grand Rapids area.

Doug and Maria DeVos, natives of Grand Rapids, Michigan, share a rich history of supporting the community through business and philanthropic endeavors.

Doug served as President of Amway from 2002-2018 and is a graduate of Purdue University. Currently, Doug co-chairs Amway’s Board of Directors, chairs the Executive Committee for the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, and serves as the vice chair of the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations, an organization he formerly led as chairman. He is also involved in numerous business and civic organizations, including the Business Leaders for Michigan, West Michigan Policy Forum, and Gerald R. Ford Presidential Foundation.

Maria is a leading advocate for the health, safety, education, and development of children. Her community work and ongoing philanthropic support aim to strengthen opportunities for children by helping build strong neighborhoods that connect people with schools, churches, job training, and local services. Maria’s advocacy is reflected in her service on several boards, including the Student Advancement Foundation, the Spectrum Health Foundation, the Advisory Board for the West Michigan Youth Ballet, and the Parents’ Athletic Council for Wake Forest University. She is a graduate of Grand Valley State University.

Following the example of servant-leadership established by Jesus Christ, Doug and Maria seek to offer real opportunities – to learn, grow, and serve – to children, families, and the community. Strong believers in the God-given potential of every person and the power of high expectations, Doug and Maria seek to create an environment in which optimistic attitudes and confident actions cultivate success.
